With the first day of autumn a few weeks ago and October just beginning, I felt this blog was appropriate and a little change from my wedding blogs! I was walking around the local park the other day and realised how much I loved the autumn and how good it made me feel! It got me excited about autumn and I started thinking about all the things I love to do in the autumn! I thought it was only fair to share it with you on my journey of happiness!
So here goes:
- Go for a walk
Take a walk and take in what you see, the trees are changing colour and they are BEAUTIFUL right now! Good excuse to chuck on your favourite coat!
- Create a cosy place
Turn on a lamp and light a candle. As the evenings start to get a little darker earlier, embrace it! Turn off your main lights, turn on your cosy lamps and light your favourite scented candle; I am currently loving the candle below from Anthropologie. I got it a little while ago so it’s not there anymore but they have loads of amazing candles, I also like ‘Angel Food‘. Candle light and lamp light can make a room so cosy and if you can hear the rain outside, even better!
- Get those knits out (haha)
Grab that big cosy jumper that’s been packed away for the summer. I am absolutely a summer girl; I love flips flops, vests and flowers in my hair however, for some reason, this year, I could not wait to get my cosy jumpers out and I am fully embracing them! I packed away my shorts today and, for the first time in a long time, this didn’t make me sad! This jumper I am wearing is a Topshop number from last year so isn’t available anymore but if you click here, it’ll take you to a beauty of a jumper that’s very much on my autumn/winter wish list!
4. Cover those feet up
As I said, I love my flip flops but, a good warm sock on a cold evening feels just as good! Dig out your big cosy socks or slippers. I love my Bedroom Athletics slipper boots and feel so cosy with them on! I also love big chunky socks from Fat Face or Joules! I tell you what I also love, are socks that stay soft, I swear by these Bamboo socks by Braintree, I LOVE THEM! They stay so soft after every wash! I REALLY recommend! I get mine from No.47 in Narberth but you can get them online here! Honestly, BEST SOCKS EVER! A pair of these under my slipper boots, oooo!!
5. Duvet day
There’s no better excuse than a chilly day outside (or even better rainy), to have a duvet day! It’s a little harder to justify in the summer when its hot outside but it’s never more perfect than when its blowing a little, getting dark earlier and raining outside to drag the duvet downstairs and put on a film or Netflix!
So there you have it, my top tips on how to embrace autumn! I’ve ALWAYS been a huge fan of summer and I still am however, autumn is fast becoming a favourite of mine!
Happy autumn everyone!
xXx
