My Makeup Must-haves

As time goes on, I’m becoming increasingly interested in makeup, skincare and other beauty products and the benefits of making sure it’s good! The more I read, watch and find out about beauty items, the more I realise the importance of them and how a good routine can make you feel so much better. Don’t get me wrong, I truly believe that beauty can be achieved without makeup and I very often go days without wearing makeup (when I can) to give my skin a breather however, lately I have been experiencing some bad skin and lots of breakouts so when I do wear makeup, I want it to look good and treat my skin well!

I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup, (unless I’m heading out for the night or feel I really need it), I usually like to keep it simple but keeping it simple doesn’t mean settling with ANY old makeup! Over the last year or so, I have become accustomed to using certain items and brands as I know they work well with my skin and give me the finish I’m looking for. So, below are the items of makeup I ALWAYS reach for when applying my makeup on a daily basis!

NARS Sheer Glow

I absolutely LOVE NARS products and this foundation really does live up to the hype. I used to use the ‘Sheer Matte’ foundation but they discontinued it and at first, I was so disappointed. I tried the ‘All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation‘ but found the consistency too light and too watery, it also didn’t really give me the finish I wanted. I then tried the ‘Velvet Matte Skin Tint‘ and it was really good but for some reason, it just wasn’t living up to the ‘Sheer Matte’ that I had been using. I was gutted but desperate not to leave NARS as I knew they produce quality products and really know what they’re doing. So, in my last attempt, I tried the ever-raved about ‘Sheer Glow‘. The consistency, coverage and finish was perfect; exactly what I wanted. It made my skin feel and look radiant and soft and I can’t recommend it enough. Early in the year I used the ‘Sheer Glow‘ in ‘Mont Blanc’ but as the year went on and my skin tone changed, I needed to change to ‘Vallauris’ (Medium 1.5) which suited my skin tone perfectly and I love it. It is the best foundation I have ever used and couldn’t imagine changing. You can build on it and go from one layer for a casual (low coverage) daily use to a full coverage look in a matter of pumps, amazing! I also like to use their ‘Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer‘ in the colour ‘St Moritz’ in the summer as it is so light and moisturising, it also helps to give my skin a break when I need it.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

So, it makes sense if I tell you about my other NARS must-have and it’s this Radiant Creamy Concealer. This is my FAVOURITE makeup product that I own, it is AMAZING and I am not exaggerating; it is an essential for me and if they ever discontinued this, I would cry! I use this concealer for any spots that I have to cover them and I also use it to lighten beneath my eyes. It is incredible. It covers my spots beautifully and, at the moment, I am having a little bit of a problem with my skin but lots of people have said that at times, you can’t even tell and I really believe it’s because of this! It is definitely worth a purchase, I swear by it! You don’t need much and it’s very easy to blend in. Ideally, next time I buy, I’d like to buy two colours; the colour I have is ‘Vanilla’ and is perfect for beneath the eyes but I think I’d go a little darker next time for my coverage. I’d probably go for the ‘Custard’ colour. Anyway, I can’t recommend this enough!

Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette

Filling in my brows is a new thing for me so I haven’t really tried many brow palettes or pencils but I do love this one. It comes with a small brush to apply but I like to use my Zoeva 317 Wing Liner brush that I got from my Zoeva set that Dan bought me! If you haven’t filled in your brows before, you should give it a try, it really helps frame your face and give you more definition. Don’t let it put you off if you do it before applying mascara, it looks so much better once your mascara is done too!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

So, on that note, I’ll talk about my mascara! This mascara is amazing, it lengthens, separates and is easy to apply. It goes on and comes off easily and I love it. I think it gives my eyelashes a nice curl. Benefit has really got it right when it comes to mascara! I used to use ‘They’re Real‘ which is also an amazing mascara but this one I think it more natural!

Benefit Hoola

I absolutely LOVE Hoola and have been using this for as long as I can remember. It is a natural way of giving your face a glow and lush bronzed finish. I apply this using my Zoeva 106 Powder Brush to the area just below my cheek bone where you can suck in (not sure how else to explain it), below my jawline, the top of my forehead and my nose and use my brush to blend it in. This helps to give you an allover bronzed look without looking too much.

Benefit High Beam

This is another product that I have been using for as long as I can remember; Benefit High Beam highlighter. It is a liquid highlighter that is in a pot much like a nail varnish pot and it glides on so easily. You don’t need much and the finish it gives is beautiful. It really extenuates your cheek bone and glistens in the light! You can use this without foundation just to give yourself a lift daily.

So, there you have it; my makeup staples, my must-haves, the products that I use day to day and couldn’t do without. This is for my simple, daily look, if I’m going out for an evening or feel like feeling a little bit more special I’ll usually change it up a little but these products all help me feel more confident in my skin!

Happy making-up people!
